Turning Trash into Treasure One Event Badge at a Time
Not Your Average Paper Pushers …
At Terra Tag, we’re not your average paper pushers—we’re on a mission to make sustainability stick. Literally.
We transform rescued paper and seed-infused pulp into beautifully handcrafted, sustainable products in Australia, from plantable name badges to biodegradable lanyards. It’s our way of turning post-event trash into little green treasures.
Our Story:
Thoughtful Innovation in Action
Terra Tag began with a spark of inspiration on a busy conference floor: there has to be a smarter, kinder way to do name badges. Our founder, Rhonda Sweet, spent 18 years helping businesses innovate at Bain and McKinsey, where she learned that the best innovation is thoughtful – it solves real problems with heart and creativity.
Armed with that insight and a passion for the planet, Rhonda traded in her
corporate suits for compostable paper - and built a business rooted in eco friendly products with purpose. She set out to reinvent the ordinary name tag into something extraordinary.
In 2023, Terra Tag was born. Small batch. Big impact. Driven by creativity, community, and a lot of upcycled magic.

Our Rescue Mission: How We Make Magic from Scrap
From Scraps to Sheets
We collect & “rescue” that waste paper – giving it a second chance as one of our environmentally friendly products. By hand-tearing & blending those scraps, we create a pulp that forms the base of our name tags. Every Terra Tag badge you wear started as someone’s paper pile.
Sun-Powered Drying
Queensland is blessed with sunshine, so we put it to work. On clear days, we let the sheets air-dry in the natural sun. For humid or wet days, we have a solar-heated drying cabinet that finishes the job. We’re not burning extra energy to dry them – the sun does the heavy lifting.
MacGyver-Upcycling
Forget shiny new factory machines – we’re big fans of DIY sustainable products. Our studio is filled with repurposed gear: old cafe blenders, paper moulds crafted from farmhouse flyscreens. Even our workbenches & chairs are pre-loved finds. We’ve built Terra Tag with a DIY ethic & a lot of creativity.
More Than Just Paper
We’ve built our ethos around doing right by the environment & our community. When you hold a Terra Tag name badge, you’re holding a piece of that vision in your hands. Sustainability isn’t an afterthought for us – it’s the entire reason we exist.
Water-Smart Wonder
Traditional paper mills guzzle enormous amounts of water & energy. We work in small batches, using greywater. Each batch of Terra Tag paper uses < 15 liters of water in total (that’s 1 standard load of laundry!) Every drop counts & our process is as gentle on the planet’s resources as our green products.
Living The 3R's
This isn’t greenwashing. We live the 3Rs—reduce, reuse, recycle across every process. We reduce waste by salvaging materials & optimising our process. We always think about what a name badge can be. We’re small, but we like to think we’re mighty in making an impact.

Why It Matters:
Small Choices, Big Impressions
Choosing Terra Tag means making a tangible difference with every event. Each artisanal, beautifully handcrafted badge prevents around 0.12 kg of CO₂ emissions compared to traditional plastic alternatives. But the impact goes beyond numbers—guests genuinely love wearing Terra Tags.
They recognise our eco friendly products as symbols of care, creativity & genuine environmental responsibility. It’s not just a name tag; it’s a subtle yet powerful statement about your values, leaving a lasting impression that resonates long after your event ends.
Built for You:
Effortlessly Eco (and Stress-Free)
Every event leaves a footprint—but the size is up to us. Consider the mountains of plastic sleeves, inserts, separate lanyards, & all that frantic assembly time event badges usually entail. Terra Tag eliminates this headache with an elegant, all-in-one solution that arrives fully assembled, beautifully printed & ready-to-wear—dramatically simplifying your event prep.
Choosing Terra Tag does more than streamline logistics. It directly reduces waste, keeping countless plastic badges out of landfills. Each biodegradable badge either harmlessly returns to the earth or sprouts into flowers, becoming a tangible symbol of your commitment to event sustainability.
Attendees genuinely love our badges because they’re beautiful, handcrafted & clearly represent your organisation’s eco-conscious values.
Beyond looking good, Terra Tag badges start conversations, inspiring others to think differently about events & sustainability. Guests often share their experience—online & in the office—helping spread awareness & normalise green practices. By choosing Terra Tag, you're joining a growing community of forward-thinking organisations who believe in taking small steps for bigger change.
We’re proud to be part of the movement toward sustainable products Australia can stand behind.

FAQs: Our Mission, Process & Planet Promise
-
A: It started with a simple question: why are we still handing out plastic name tags at sustainability conferences? From that tiny contradiction, Terra Tag was born—founded on the idea that small things (like a name badge) can make a big difference when designed with care & purpose.
-
A: Yep! We handmake our seed paper, upcycle our tools & print everything in our Sunshine Coast studio. No overseas fulfilment, no drop-shipping. Just real people, creating real products—with creativity, integrity & plenty of waste paper underfoot.
-
A: We’re not a print shop that “also does eco.” We’re an eco company that happens to be really good at papermaking & printing. Sustainability isn’t a feature here—it’s the whole foundation. From our materials to our mindset, we design for the planet first & everything else flows from there.
-
A: While we’re not certified B Corp (yet!), we follow strict internal policies around waste reduction, ethical sourcing & local production. Everything we make is compostable or recyclable & our footprint is as light as a feather.
